Tiger
Tigers are the largest species of the “big cat” predators. They are part of the panthera genus, which they share with Jaguars, Leopards and Lions. Tigers are now considered Endangered by the IUCN as the wild population has dropped to about 5000, and about 80% of all wild tigers can be found living in India.
Near the top of the food chain, tigers are one of this planets top predators. Their fur is camouflaged, which allows them to blend in nicely with their common surroundings, the grasslands. Tigers hunt alone, and prefer to live alone other than when breeding. Common prey for tigers includes medium-sized herbivorous mammals; deer, buffalo and wild pigs for example.
Being killed for their fur, the only predators that tigers have is humans.
